Since the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, the aim of our project has been to bridge socially isolated seniors in care facilities across Metro Vancouver with the larger community, one handcrafted card at a time. Although we are now in post-pandemic times, we still care and we still love our seniors. Card-making is a fun activity for all – students, colleagues, friends, family, neighbours… the possibilities are endless!

Over 400 cards were collected for the 2025 Winter Holiday season – a big thank you to all local groups and individuals for sharing lovely cards with us! Photos capturing a selection of the cards collected are now in our Gallery.
Ongoing Project (year-round)
Birthday cards: To share kindness and love to seniors on their special day
Postcard to a friend: Wherever you are, wherever you go, there is a story to tell! Capture the essence of any positive, heartwarming stories and experiences, and share them with a senior on a postcard!
General card-making guidelines
- Handwritten or printed out in legible font (consider larger font for seniors who may have visual impairments)
- Colourful, with artwork or decorations
- In any language
- Generic greeting (e.g., “To my dear friend”, “Hello there!”, “Hi friend”, “To my dearest”, …)
- Include a thoughtful message without personal identifying information
- Sign off with your first name only, use a pen name, or remain anonymous (e.g., “With love, a friend from afar”)
- For any letters with envelopes, please ensure the envelopes are unsealed to allow for language and theme verification
Thinking of organizing a group card making workshop or making a large volume of cards? Our team is more than happy to pick up cards in the Metro Vancouver area, and deliver them to local care facilities. Email us at cards.loveourseniors@gmail.com.
